To all nail biters

Here are a few tips for keeping your nails strong and healthy. The number one rule to having healthy and strong nails is- NOT BITING THEM! I myself am an offender of this rule, but hopefully with a little practice and patience I can overcome this horrible habit. Biting, ripping, chewing, and bending are very harmful things we do to our nails (sometimes on a daily bases) so in order to help with overcoming these awful habits, try the following tips.
  1. Realize that you have this habit
  2. Keep your hands busy [Play with your hair band or runner band, get a stress ball (QUICK DIY stress ball- get a small or medium sized balloon, fill with flour, tie balloon, and draw a little face on it *-*) or a pencil or straw to play with in between your fingers]
  3. Put Vaseline on your nails (Since Vaseline works as a great moisturizer for your cuticles and the skin around your nails, don't be afraid to dab a little on your nails, I'm sure they are less desirable to bite when dipped in Vaseline)
  4. Eat rich calcium filled foods to help nails grow stronger and thicker so they are not as easy to bite or tear.
  5. Get a manicure! No one likes to mess up a fresh manicure! (TIP- bright colored manicures will help because if you do bite, it is much more visible on a brightly colored nail and again, no one wants that!)
